Laura: Freckles and Braids
by Bette Wells

Bette Wells designed this Laura after Little House on the Prairie.

This charming paper doll has a homey touch. That’s because her designer loved the Little House on the Prairie TV show from the 1970s. Ms. Wells wrote a column called “Doller’s Doings” in Stitch ‘n Sew magazine that was very popular with fabric lovers. Laura: Freckles and Braids is a line drawing paper doll allowing her to be colored to personal preference with crayons or colored pencils.

In  her column, Bette Wells mentions that this Laura is named after Laura Ingalls. She further asserts that the Ingalls books and TV show were popular because her family was very loving and always thought of other people before themselves. Ms. Wells also gave some paper doll history notes in her column and suggested that, “paper dolls are easy to store and fun to display. Framed paper dolls in the home can reflect on the owner’s interest in doll collecting and add a unique decorating note.”

Included in this 3 page PDF black and white illustration paper doll are:

  • A Laura Doll in a eyelet edged and tucked slip with high buttoned shoes
  • Tucked dress under apron with attached basket of posies
  • Calico dress with hem ruffle and drawn kitty cat

This paper doll and her accessories are a PDF that will be downloaded to your computer and printed off by your computer’s printer. Please help keep Sunbonnet Smart on-line by not sharing paper dolls. Be fair! Don’t share!
